how to install 48 spline cranks on a BMX bike.

how to install 48 spline cranks on a BMX bike. Video Clips. Duration : 7.05 Mins.

i thought id make this video because ive had a few people asking me some questions about putting 48 spline cranks on their bikes, and since its almost christmas, i know a few people will be getting cranks. things you will need: 1. grease. you NEED grease. its not optional. if you dont have grease, dont even try to put your cranks on unless you have 2 hours to spend putting your cranks on, and never want to take them off again. 2. the cranks and components (crank arms, spindle, screws, spacers, sprocket, sprocket bore adapter and etc.). a towel. 3. a 6mm allen wrench (may need another one that is bigger in size for crank tool, it could be different for each set of cranks.). you need to make sure that: 1. you need to make sure that your BB (bottom bracket) and spindle are compatible, which means they need to be the same size. most BBs are 19mm, so you will need a crank arm set that will work with 19mm spindles. if your BB happens to be 22mm, then you need to find cranks that have a 22mm size spindle and that work with the 22mm spindle. 2. your sprocket will fit your spindle. how do you find out if it will? well, if you know what size of bore that your sprocket has (the inside part that the spindle goes through), its pretty easy. some sprockets have a 22mm bore, and usually come with a 19mm adapter that fits inside the bore. its really important that you keep in mind that the distance between your chainstays and your crank arm should be about this far apart: | | hope this ...
